Viva Ruiz
Chismeando, Hangiando, Aborto / Thank God for Abortion
On July 13, 2020, NWCT interviewed Viva Ruiz as part of an ongoing series of pandemic-talks with activist artists working across the globe. Ruiz is the queer Latinx progeny of Ecuadorian immigrants and a community and nightlife educated advocate born and based in New York. Their practice starts from the premise that the underlying thrust of all mediums is to dismantle white supremacy and exorcise the colonial / colonized mindset. Listen to the recording.

The Testimonials Project
How can we create unity within our community when we’re conditioned to ignore, justify and deny stories of anti-women marginalization, exploitation and abuse?
In 2018, NWCT launched The Testimonials Project to make a space for listening to, collecting, documenting and sharing such stories with communities worldwide.
From the struggle, experiences of deep seated grief, mourning and loss have emerged alongside stories of sisterhood, strength, power, anger, joy and reclamation.
Decolonizing Institutions
NWCT was born out of a love for community, gathering and storytelling through the arts. Being mobile and supporting efforts to de-silo the arts from major centers and elitist mindsets is key to our mission.
NWCT partners with individuals, groups and cultural organizations of various shapes and sizes to design consciousness-raising programs by, for and with the communities and stakeholders they serve. We seed culture change through facilitated open exchange and self-critique. Read about our past collaborations here.
